Oyo police attribute Ogbomoso Immigration Passport Office attack to hoodlums wielding sticks

Oyo state police command has launched an investigation into the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Passport Office attack in Ogbomoso by suspected gunmen.

According to reports, the assailants stormed the facility located along the Ogbomoso to Ilorin Expressway on Tuesday night, overpowering officers on duty. The suspects also cart away with an unconfirmed number of service firearms including a mobile phone before fleeing the scene.

The initial information reaching the Command states that, the officer in charge of the facility at about 8:45 p.m raised an alarm following the invasion.

The Police further explained that injured officers have received necessary medical attention and they are currently in stable condition.

Confirming the development, the Oyo State Police Command has declared commencement of an investigation into the incident. Adding that the command is reportedly working alongside immigration authorities and other security agencies to determine the circumstances surrounding the security breach and track down those responsible attributing the attack to hoodlums wielding sticks

Police spokesperson DSP Olayinka Ayanlade explained that the command was gathering details on the incident and promised to provide further updates as investigations continue.

The attack has since heightened concerns over the security of government facilities in the state, particularly in Ogbomoso, where security agencies have recently intensified efforts to maintain peace and public safety.
