Suspected gunmen have reportedly attacked the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, carting away firearms belonging to officers.
Vanguard reported that the incident took place around 10 pm on June 2 at the immigration office situated along the Ogbomoso-Ilorin expressway.
The assailants reportedly attacked the facility while commercial activities were still ongoing at the nearby Cattle Market. During the attack, the assailants overpowered the officers, dispossessing them of their firearms.
Consequently, they fled the scene under the cover of darkness with a currently unknown number of weapons.
While the Oyo State Police PRO said he has not been briefed on the matter, the NIS is yet to publicly address the matter, as of press time.
Specifically, this incident has contributed significantly to the rising concerns regarding Nigeria’s insecurity.
