Top Condom Producer set to increase price over supply chain disruptions linked to US-Iran war

The world’s biggest condom producer, Karex Berhad has expressed plans to increase the price of its products following supply chain disruptions linked to the US-Iran war.

Reuters, citing Karex CEO Goh Miah, reported that the cost production for condoms has increased significantly since the war started. This ranges from materials like synthetic rubber, nitrile, and lubricants like foils, and silicone oil.

Amid this, the company is also experiencing a surge in demand following rising shipping costs and delays that have reduced customers’ stockpiles than usual.

The company, which supplies leading brands like Durex and Trojan, produces over five billion condoms annually. It also supplies the UK’s NHS, and the United Nations.

Notably, the firm is considering a 20% to 30% price increase over supply shocks caused by the ongoing war. This is expected to allow them to transfer the costs to the customers who are already facing delayed delivery.
