A Nigerian woman has recounted her surprise after a man she recently rejected accepted her decision without argument and simply walked away.
The woman, in a statement shared online, said the man’s response stood out to her because she had become accustomed to men refusing to accept rejection.
According to her, she expected the man to continue trying to convince her or attempt to change her mind, but he simply acknowledged her decision and left.
“I rejected a man recently and he simply said ‘okay’ and walked away. I was so shocked because I have never experienced that before,” she said.
She described the man’s reaction as an example of how she believes men should respond when a woman declines their advances.
“This is how normal men are supposed to behave when a woman says no,” she added.

The woman also used the experience to caution men against refusing to accept rejection, particularly when it involves following women to their homes or persistently attempting to change their minds.
“Stop following women to their houses or trying to prove yourself after being rejected,” she said.
Her comments have sparked conversations online about consent, personal boundaries and the importance of accepting a person’s decision when romantic advances are declined.
While persistence is sometimes portrayed as a sign of affection or determination, her experience highlights the importance of recognising a clear “no” and respecting the other person’s boundaries.
