“Don’t Chew Gum in Church, you’re not a Goat” – Pastor David Ibiyeomie cautions members

Pastor David Ibiyeomie, Founder of Salvation Ministries has warned his church members against chewing gum and other things during services.

The pastor, in a video trending on X described the act of chewing gum, drinking water, and using phones during services as improper, unethical and disrespectful.

He stressed that chewing gum can be untist and indecent, especially when worshippers dispose the gum carelessly.

He said;

“Members of Salvation Message, nobody comes to Salvation Messages during service and chewing gum. People chew gum and drop on the floor, and most of the people make mistakes to match it. It’s not neat, it’s not ethical, it’s not decent.”

Reacting to claims that chewing gum enhances fresh breath, Pastor Ibiyeomue urged congregants to use mouthwash instead.

“Don’t say, I like to keep my mouth fresh. Please use mouthwash and freshen your mouth. It’s not gum to make it,” he added.

The pastor furthered that some congregants also have the habit of sticking gum in chairs and other surfaces. He described this particular act as irresponsible.

Meanwhile, he also noted that drinking water during the service is inappropriate within the church auditorium. Instead, members and leaders could do it outside without interrupting the service or sermon.

“Don’t drink water in church. Please, all those things are not good. Don’t carry water.”

He compared Pentecostal and Catholic practices, noting that, “You don’t see a Catholic priest drinking water on the altar.”
