FCT Police Re-Arrest Two Ex-Convicts Over Alleged Child Trafficking, Rescue Four-Year-Old Girl

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has re-arrested two ex-convicts, Rose Daniel and Blessing John, over alleged child abduction and trafficking in Kuje, Abuja.

The suspects were arrested on August 27, 2026, after a concerned resident reportedly alerted the police upon witnessing them allegedly attempting to flee with a four-year-old girl identified as Ummi Mariam Abdullah.

According to the FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had previously faced prosecution in December 2025 over a similar offence. They reportedly spent about five months in prison before securing bail.

Further investigations allegedly linked the suspects to the abduction and trafficking of four children to different parts of the country since their release.

Police investigators also uncovered an alleged connection to an accomplice in Port Harcourt identified as Madam Ijeoma. The police alleged that the woman bought two of the children for N1.5 million each.

The police rescued the four-year-old girl and reunited her with her family, while the two suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.

The FCT Police Command urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and monitor their children’s safety and whereabouts, and also encouraged residents to report suspicious activities to the authorities.
