How to Access FG’s Free 250,000 Business Names Registration

The Federal Government has commenced arrangements to provide 250,000 free business name registrations to eligible Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across Nigeria as part of efforts to support small businesses and stimulate economic growth.

The initiative, approved under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is designed to ease the cost of formalising businesses and encourage more entrepreneurs to register their enterprises.

How to Apply

Interested and eligible entrepreneurs are advised to access the official SMEDAN registration portal to participate in the programme.

Applicants should visit: portal.smedan.gov.ng

Entrepreneurs are encouraged to provide accurate information and follow the instructions on the portal to complete the registration process.

CAC Will Not Request Payment

The management stressed that beneficiaries of the initiative will not be required to pay for the business name registration.

“The Corporate Affairs Commission will NOT request payment for this registration,” the management stated.

The public was therefore urged to be cautious of individuals or agents who may attempt to exploit the programme by demanding money from applicants.

Beware of Fraudsters for payment

The management specifically warned entrepreneurs against paying anyone who claims to have the ability to fast-track or secure registration under the initiative.

Beware of fraudsters! Do not pay anyone claiming to fast-track your registration,” it warned.

The Federal Government’s initiative is expected to help more small businesses formalise their operations, improve access to opportunities and strengthen the contribution of MSMEs to Nigeria’s economy.
