A senior staff member of Davies Hotel, located in the Bodija area of Ibadan, has reportedly confessed to stealing ₦17.8 million from the hotel.
In a video circulating online, the staff member admits to the allegations confessing that he has been actively involved in the alleged fraud syndicate for about five years.
He explained that from May 2025 to June 2026, he diverted a sum of 17.8 Million naira from the hotel’s finances.
He said:
“For the past five years I have been stealing from Davies Hotel, collecting money from people, and forwarding money to my account ……”
While speaking in the video, he recounts how he built a house from the syndicate, further adding that the proceedings include members of the staff of Davies Hotel involved in the crime.
Sources familiar with the matter disclosed that the suspect confessed after being confronted with evidence gathered during an internal investigation. The management subsequently reported the case to the appropriate authorities for further action.
However, the hotel management has yet to release an official statement detailing the circumstances surrounding the incident. Rather efforts are reportedly underway to determine the full extent of the financial loss and whether other individuals may have been involved.
Also the security agencies involved are shouldered with the continuation of investigations into the matter. While steps are being taken to strengthen internal controls and prevent similar incidents in the future.
