Popular Ekiti born businessman Isaac Fayose, has rewarded a woman identified as Oke Adenike Favour in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, with ₦1million naira after she openly expressed disappointment over the widespread allegations of vote buying during the recently concluded governorship election in the state.
The woman, whose remarks gained attention on social media, after lamenting over the practice of vote buying with a sum of ₦15,000 naira cash. While describing it as one of the factors undermining democratic progress and good governance in the state. Apparently, her comments came amid public debates and reports of inducement of voters during the election.
Moved by her stance, Fayose announced a ₦1million naira cash reward, praising her for speaking against electoral malpractice and encouraging citizens to prioritize competence and accountability over financial incentives during elections. Fayose reportedly described the gesture as an intention to encourage integrity and civic responsibility among voters.
Following Fayose’s gesture, Favour acknowledged the payment while showing gratitude in a new surfaced video.
The development has since generated mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians applauding the reward as recognition for promoting electoral values.
Recall that, Ekiti governorship election, held on June 20, 2026, was largely peaceful but was overshadowed by allegations of vote buying from various quarters.
