NAUS Threatens to Take Action Against South African Businesses in Nigeria over Continued Xenophobic attacks

The National Association of University Students (NAUS) has threatened to take action against South African businesses in Nigeria over continued Xenophobic attacks.

NAUS Comrades condemned the recent Xenophobic attacks against Nigerians and other black Africans in South Africa. The association described the incidents as a threat to the lives and future of Nigerians living in the country.

Consequently, the association has issued a one-week ultimatum warning the South African government against potential actions. NAUS stated that it would start with peaceful and lawful advocacy to press home its demands.

However, the association vowed to commence all lawful efforts to close South African-owned businesses in Nigeria if the attacks continue. NAUS added that it will occupy the South African High Commission in Nigeria until meaningful action is taken.

The association expressed that Africa’s progress depends on unity, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence. As such, there should be no room for hatred or violence among Africans. They added that the South African government should investigate all reported cases and prosecute everyone found culpable.

Nevertheless, the association revealed plans to engage the South African High Commission in Nigeria to demand reassurances.
