Woman Leaves Marriage After Husband Allegedly Concealed Genotype for 10 Years

A Nigerian woman has reportedly ended her marriage after discovering that her husband allegedly misrepresented his genotype before their wedding, a revelation that came to light following the diagnosis of their last child with sickle cell disease.

According to a family member who shared the story on X, the woman, who is AS, had believed for a decade that her husband was AA based on information he provided before they got married.

However, the couple reportedly have four children together and questions arose after their youngest child was diagnosed with sickle cell disease. A discovery that prompted the woman to seek clarification on how the condition could have occurred if she was AS and her husband was AA as claimed.

The situation reportedly escalated when some members of the husband’s family accused the woman of infidelity and allegedly demanded that she swear an oath to prove her innocence.
The X user stressed that the husband admitted that he had concealed his true genotype before the marriage. And he allegedly confessed that he is AS, not AA as he had previously claimed, while adding that he falsified his test result because he wanted to marry her.

The revelation has since reportedly left the woman devastated, with family members saying she has struggled to come to terms with the discovery and the circumstances surrounding her child’s diagnosis.

Notably, the incident has sparked widespread reactions online, with many social media users condemning the alleged deception and emphasizing the importance of genotype compatibility testing and transparency before marriage.

A user commented:

“Love cannot be built on deception. If he had been honest from the beginning, they could have made an informed decision together. One lie has changed the lives of four children forever.”

Another user added:

“Lying about something as important as genotype is a serious betrayal.
Love should be built on honesty, especially when decisions can affect a family’s future and the health of future children.”
