Nigerian Airlines could suspend operations by April 20 for this reason

The Airline Operators of Nigeria has warned that airlines could suspend their operations from April 20, 2026 over the rising price of aviation fuel.

According to the Nigerian airlines, the aviation fuel’s recent jump from N900 to N3,300 is impacting operations.

They stressed that the price surge is unsustainable. Hence, revenue can no longer cover fuel costs.

As of press time, at least one airline has already grounded operations, NairaMetrics reported, citing Channels TV.

The jump in aviation fuel aligns with a similar global surge in the price of petroleum and its associated products as part of a resulting fallout from the ongoing Iran vs. the US and Israel war. While talks are reportedly ongoing between the parties, tensions remain heightened over the possible directions of the conversations.
