Oorelope LGA debunks release of Kidnapped victims in Igboho

Oorelope Local Government Authorities have debunked reports of the release of victims abducted around the Igboho area of Oyo State.

The LGA Chairman Hon. Jacob Oluwale Ogundiran clarified that social media rumors alleging that the individuals recently kidnapped around Igboho had regained freedom are false and misleading.

Yesterday, social media videos alleged that the kidnappers reportedly released the victims following a two-hour ultimatum by Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho.

The agitator threatened to take serious actions against the Fulani residents in his hometown if the victims were not released. Following this, a video emerged suggesting that the victims had regained freedom.

However, the council clarified that the victims remain in captivity and official rescue operations are ongoing, Oyo Affairs reported.

The kidnapped victims are yet to regain their freedom. We urge members of the public to disregard any information suggesting otherwise unless it emanates from official and credible sources.

According to Hon. Ogundiran, state and local security agencies are collaboratively working to secure the victimsโ€™ release. He added that the government is deploying all necessary measures to secure their release.
