Osun Governor accuses Police Commissioner of not cooperating with security efforts to curb political violence

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has slammed the State’s Commissioner of Police for not cooperating with efforts to address and curtail political violence in the state.

Governor Adeleke alleged in a recent interview that he is getting adequate support from other armed forces to curb political violence and improve security in the state. However, the state’s Police Commissioner is not cooperating with his efforts, thereby making them largely futile across Osun State.

The Governor’s allegation follows rising political violence in the state ahead of the upcoming Gubernatorial election on August 15, 2026. The election, being contested by the Governor’s Accord Party and the opposition APC, has already drawn massive negative attention.

A few weeks ago, reports emerged of an attempted attack by political thugs against the Governor’s Son. Yesterday, another report emerged that political thugs attacked several parts of Osogbo, the state’s capital, shooting sporadically.

Reports alleged that the attack caused injury for several innocent bystanders across the state’s capital.
