Nigerian influencer and actress Abike Raheem, popularly known as Papaya Ex, has expressed distress after alleging that her YouTube manager deleted one of her movies, The Spotlight, from her PAPAYAEXTV channel after it reportedly garnered 2.7 million views and more than 10,000 comments.
In a video circulating on social media, the influencer was seen in tears as she spoke about the disappearance of the movie, which she described as a major project that required significant financial and personal investment.
Papaya Ex said she invested heavily in the production and promotion of The Spotlight, adding that she even embarked on a 30-day fast while working on the project.
She expressed disbelief that a movie which had attracted millions of views and thousands of comments could be removed from her channel and allegedly attributed to a mistake by her YouTube manager. The visibly emotional influencer questioned how such a high-performing project could simply disappear after achieving substantial engagement on the platform.
Her account of the incident has sparked discussions about the management of digital content and the risks creators face when third parties have access to their social media platforms.
The emotional clip has gained widespread attention online, attracting hundreds of thousands of views and generating reactions from social media users.
While some users sympathised with Papaya Ex and expressed concern over the loss of a project that had performed strongly, others called for greater accountability and clarification from those responsible for managing the channel.
There has also been speculation about what may have led to the video’s removal and whether it was accidental or deliberate.
As of the time of reporting, the circumstances surrounding the deletion of The Spotlight and the response of the YouTube manager had not been independently established.
