Nigerian standup comedian and actress Anita Asuoha, popularly known as Real Warri Pikin, has apologised to Nigerians following an onstage incident involving singer Timaya at the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) in the United States.
The controversy started after Real Warri Pikin unexpectedly joined Timaya onstage during his performance of his hit song, “Ukwu.” The comedian reportedly came from backstage and joined the singer despite initially being reluctant to go onstage.
During the performance, Timaya lifted Real Warri Pikin, with the moment receiving significant attention after videos of the interaction surfaced online.
In an apology video shared after the incident, Real Warri Pikin took responsibility for her actions and acknowledged the backlash that followed.
She explained that the interaction was spontaneous and was not planned beforehand. According to her, the moment appeared entertaining to those present at the event, but the reaction changed after clips of the incident circulated online.
The comedian also revealed that her husband was upset over the incident, adding to the pressure she faced following the public reaction.
Real Warri Pikin pleaded with Nigerians not to judge her too harshly, stressing that she did not intend to cause embarrassment or disrespect anyone.
