The report of an alleged scam incident involving a group of bandits and their gunrunners have set tongues wagging on social media as Nigerians give recommendations.
Unconfirmed reports circulating on social media suggest that a suspected gunrunner has allegedly scammed a bandit leader of N95 million. The reports alleged that the gunrunner disappeared after collecting the money to supply firearms to the bandits.
Certain reports link the revelation to Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmed, a House of Representatives member representing Musawa-Matazu Federal Constituency.
The gunrunner reportedly struck a firearms supply deal with the bandit leader to secure sophisticated weapons. However, the gunrunner absconded with the money and went into hiding instead of delivering the agreed weapons.
Though the reports remain unconfirmed, Nigerians have taken to social media to voice their recommendations.
Many individuals lauded the gunrunner’s act, describing it as helping to prevent attacks. Others expressed shock at the level of audacity displayed by the actor.
Ayo, a security consultant said;
“Nigerians have mind when it comes to scam. Someone scammed bandits about 100m he impersonated their arms dealer and collected money in two separate installment and travelled out. The Audacity is loud af.”
Amid this, other Nigerians suggest that the bandits should consider reporting the scam to the EFCC. According to them, the anti-graft agency may be able to intervene in the incident.
Meanwhile, critics expressed concerns that the action may cause the criminals to inflict further suffering and attacks on innocent communities.
