Xenophobic attacks: First Batch of repatriated Nigerians arrive Lagos from South Africa

The first batch of Nigerians repatriated from South Africa over the increasing Xenophobic attacks arrived in Lagos following an evacuation by the Federal Government.

The batch, which included 262 Nigerians, touched down in Lagos around 11am on Thursday June 11, 2026 aboard an Air Peace flight.

Speaking before their arrival, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Amb. Bianca Ojukwu explained that their repatriation follows the need to save them from the continued risks of the Xenophobic attacks. She stated that they will be received by the Honorable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs,  Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye.

Meanwhile, the Minister revealed that the Federal Government has established necessary reception and support arrangements for the returnees
