“No Vacancy in Aso Rock, Even If They Kidnap All of Us” — Gov. Okpebholo Accuses Opposition of Fueling Insecurity

The Edo state Governor, Governor Monday Okpebholo has accused opposition politicians of sponsoring insecurity across the country in an attempt to undermine the administration of Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Monday Okpebholo made this known during the APC campaign flag off for local government council elections in Edo South Senatorial District. While speaking he claimed that the recent wave of insecurity was politically motivated and instigated to weaken public confidence in the Federal Government.

He said:

“There is no vacancy in Aso Rock. What is happening today is the hardiwork of the opposition”

He asserted that those responsible for the insecurity were seeking political advantage through instability, though he maintained that their efforts had failed.

Okepbholo added:

“They have failed. Have they not failed? Is it by kidnapping children? Then who are you going to govern? There will be nobody for you to govern. So let them give us peace so that we can rule well.”

Reiterating his stance, the Governor stated; “They can even kidnap all of us; there is still no vacancy in Aso Rock.”

The governor further commended President Tinubu’s leadership, asserting that the current administration had recorded more achievements than previous governments. While stressing that the benefits of the fuel subsidy removal were becoming evident through ongoing infrastructure and development projects across Edo State.

Akpabio backs Governor Okpebholo stance, Accuses Opposition of Fueling Insecurity

Today, 10th June 2026, the Senate President, God’swill Akpabio also claimed that the political opponents of President Bola Tinubu are the one sponsoring insecurity. He alleged that the opposition are mobilising youths to stir unrest nationwide after being unable to criticise the government’s achievements.

Akpabio comments this during the commissioning of roads in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), According to him, the government’s critics had little left to campaign against in light of the administration’s performance.

He said:

“When they realize that they cannot talk about projects, when they realize they cannot talk about performance, when they realize they cannot talk about good laws, when they realize they cannot talk about the transformation in the petroleum industry, they now start resorting to paying more young people and recruiting them to cause mayhem across the country,” he said.

However, the Senate President urged Nigerians not to allow political tensions to divide the country, while stressing that elections are temporary while national unity remains paramount.

Akpabio added:

“Elections will come and go, elections will never be our end. We will see the end of elections, elections will never see our end,”
