Popular Nigerian rapper and singer, Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, widely known as Zlatan Ibile, has sparked widespread reactions online after reportedly offering ₦5 million monthly for a French home tutor.
Zlatan made the offer known via his X handle on April 21, 2026, triggering thousands of responses from Nigerians with many eager to showcase their French-speaking skills.
While some users reacted humorously, joking about revisiting their secondary school French, others took a more serious approach by presenting their qualifications and even attaching CVs.
Some of the reactions read:
“Dear @Zlatan_Ibile, I’m an experienced French tutor with seven years of proven success teaching diverse age groups in Nigeria and abroad. At the University of Ibadan, I’ve voluntarily tutored peers since 100 level, helping them excel in critical French courses. My track record speaks for itself,” one user wrote.
“Dear Zlatan, Je m’appelle Kemi Kemo Dakun baba mi, I will learn on the job 😫🤲🏻. Thank you for your understanding,” another user joked.
“I am a private French tutor in Lekki and its environs. Attached is my CV,” another applicant added.
Meanwhile, some users suggested alternative learning methods:
“You do not actually need a physical lesson tutor. With an app like Duolingo, all you need is 1–2 hours daily, and you can learn faster than with any physical teacher. The app also offers multiple global languages,” a user commented.
Following the announcement, popular Nigerian actor Femi Adebayo also joined the conversation, further fueling reactions online.
“Mon frère, je m’occupe de toi, c’est pour toi ou pour toute la famille ? Parle vite hein !” he wrote. Translated: “My brother, I’ll take care of you. Is it for you or for the whole family? Speak quickly!”
The buzz didn’t stop there, as a trending TikTok video of a French-speaking student identified as @themaintoks also circulated widely under the post, adding to the growing wave of reactions.
