“I was the Olodo in my family, but I feed them now,” – Portable Recounts education struggle

Controversial Nigerian Musician Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable has shared details of his difficult upbringing and educational struggles growing up.

Portable revealed in an episode of the Honest Bunch podcast that he hawked ‘pure water’ to sponsor himself through secondary school. He revealed that his father sponsored his siblings but not him, because of his educational struggles.

He stressed that he was termed as the Olodo of the family back then. However, he is now responsible for supporting his family despite his lack of education.

Portable lamented the country’s unemployment crisis arguing that his siblings are educated, but do not have befitting jobs to cater for their needs. Hence, this makes him the family’s breadwinner.

Sharing further details, Portable stated that he is currently studying Business Administration at Kwara State Polytechnic. He noted that while he gained admission via the indigeneship route, he intends to graduate the program.

Meanwhile, netizens have expressed concerns that his difficult upbringing likely contributed to his current behavior. Nevertheless, others are showering him accolades for deciding to return to school.
