Afrobeats stars Davido and Wande Coal have reignited a long running disagreement over their unreleased collaboration, “Come My Way.”
The controversy resurfaced after Davido addressed the 2021 collaboration during a recent interview, explaining why the song featuring his verse was never released.
According to Davido, Wande Coal initially approached him for the collaboration, after which he recorded his verse. However, the two reportedly disagreed over how the song should be released.
Davido said he was not comfortable with Wande Coal’s plan to release the song as a solo track first and subsequently put out his contribution as a remix. He also claimed that Wande had sought his attention for about a year and recently attempted to obtain his phone number through a mutual contact, but he declined to share it. A screenshot shared by Davido was subsequently presented as evidence of the recent attempt to contact him.
The disagreement quickly moved online after Wande Coal challenged Davido’s account of the events on X.
Wande maintained that the song already had a release plan and suggested that it had performed well without Davido’s contribution. “Come My Way” was officially released by Wande Coal in October 2021 and later appeared as part of his musical catalogue.
The song also recorded chart success, reaching No. 17 on the Official Afrobeats Chart in November 2021.
As the disagreement escalated, both singers exchanged personal remarks on X, turning what began as a disagreement over music and release strategy into a public war of words.
Davido later responded to Wande with a provocative remark, while Wande fired back with an equally sharp response, drawing widespread reactions from fans and followers of both artists.
The renewed clash has left fans debating who was right over the shelved collaboration.
