The Federal Government has opened registration for its Digital Training Academy (DTA), a free skills development programme designed to equip Nigerians with digital competencies required in the technology-driven economy.
The programme provides Nigerians with an opportunity to receive training in several technology-related fields, including artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, software development, cloud technology, financial technology (FinTech) and IT automation.
Over 32,000 learners registered
The Digital Training Academy platform indicates that more than 32,000 learners have already registered for the programme, highlighting growing interest in digital skills and technology-based career opportunities among Nigerians.
The initiative is being implemented as part of efforts to broaden access to digital education and prepare more Nigerians for employment and entrepreneurial opportunities in the expanding digital economy.
According to the platform, the programme is designed to provide learners with “in-demand skills” that can improve their ability to participate in the technology sector.
Registration requires NIN
To register, applicants are required to provide their National Identification Number (NIN) and an active mobile phone number.
New applicants are expected to verify their NIN, create an account and complete their profiles on the platform. They must also undergo a pre-assessment before proceeding with the training.
Existing participants, meanwhile, can log into their accounts to continue their learning.
Training offered free of charge
The government-sponsored programme is offered at no cost to participants, making it accessible to Nigerians seeking to acquire technology skills without paying tuition or registration fees.
Participants who successfully complete their respective training programmes are expected to receive certificates upon completion.
The training covers a range of areas that have become increasingly important to businesses and organisations as digital technology continues to transform different sectors of the economy.
Focus on emerging technologies
Among the areas covered by the academy is artificial intelligence, a rapidly developing field with applications across business, education, healthcare, finance, media and other sectors.

The programme also offers training in cybersecurity, software development and cloud technology, while FinTech and IT automation are included among the other areas available to learners.
The government is positioning the initiative as a way of improving Nigerians’ digital readiness and expanding the pool of people with skills that can support the country’s growing technology ecosystem.
Portal now open to applicants
The Digital Training Academy onboarding portal is currently live and provides separate options for new applicants and existing participants.
New users can begin the registration process by verifying their NIN and creating an account, while those who have already registered can log in and proceed with their training.
The Federal Government is encouraging Nigerians interested in developing digital skills to take advantage of the free programme as access to technology-related knowledge becomes increasingly important in the labour market.
