Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta has reportedly dismissed 365 students for presenting fake results and forged transcripts to gain admission into the institution.
Punch reported that the development was contained in a statement approved by the institution’s public relations officer, Mr Yemi Ajibola on Monday.
The authorities stated that the expelled students enrolled in different HND programmes, secured admission by submitting fake National Diploma results and forged transcripts from various tertiary institutions.
According to him, the decision to dismiss the students followed an extensive screening exercise that uncovered discrepancies in the credentials submitted by the affected students. While noting that, the decision implies the institution’s allegiance in filtering the academic system. By ensuring a firm stance directive to curb fraud among other integrity breaches in academics.
He further stated that the dismissed students includes; 156 from the school of communication and technology with the highest number of expelled students. Then the School of Business and Management Studies had 117 students, and the School of Science and Technology with 54. The School of Engineering had 36, while the School of Environmental Studies had only two students.
The institution Rector, Dr Koye Jolaoso however enjoined potential aspirants and applicants to determine from using fake documents to secure admission. He further reiterated the institution’s commitments in maintaining scholar integrity, fostering excellence.
