A marriage of one month has reportedly just ended due to a dispute between husband and wife over mobile phone sim card destroy.
An X user, @The LIGHT stirred the reactions in a post narrating how her friend, the wife refused abruptly to comply with her husband, insisting on keeping her phone number and maintaining her personal connections.
After the husband allegedly demand her to destroy her sim card and cut off communication with certain contacts.
Maintaining her instance, she reportedly argued that, she will choose her husband over anything but cutting ties with her people is a no for her. While asking if the husband could do the same by breaking his sim card.
The disagreement has reportedly intensified into a serious marital conflict resulting in divorce few weeks after the marriage.
However, the post has since sparked debate on social media, with many users expressing concerns over the issues of trust, control, privacy, and personal freedom within marriage.
While some argued that married couples should be transparent with each other, others maintained that a spouse should not be compelled to abandon personal communication channels as a condition for staying in a marriage.
A user wrote:
“if the marriage really ended because of this alone, then the real problem wasn’t the SIM card but the way the husband was thinking.
A marriage ending after just one month over this kind of issue shows there were probably deeper problems with trust, communication, etc.
A spouse should become an important part of your life, not the only part of your life.”
Another user tweeted:
“It’s normal for priorities to change after marriage and some relationships may naturally become less important but demanding that a spouse cut off everyone from their past while refusing to do the same is a different issue entirely.”
The story has reignited conversations about the importance of mutual respect, trust, and healthy boundaries in relationships.
