Ondo Government withholds results, expels students following controversial WAEC sign out celebration

The Ondo State Government has reportedly taken action against students involved in the controversial sign-out celebration that went viral recently.

Reports alleged that the state will now withhold the WAEC results and testimonials of 17 SS 3 students across three schools. These include Oyemekun Grammar School, Aquinas College, and CAC Grammar School all located in Akure.

The government explained that the students were captured in the viral video engaging in unruly and indecent acts. The video, which showed acts commemorating the end of the students’ WASSCE examination, sparked public concern and condemnation.

In addition to withholding the results, the government has also taken strict action against other students.

The Ondo government has reportedly ordered the immediate expulsion of non-final-year students identified in the footage. As such, their names have been entered into their respective schools’ disciplinary record known as the black book.

Additionally, the authorities has issued official queries to the schools’ principals and senior officers for alleged negligence.
