Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has revealed plans to purchase Dangote shares for 500 youths in the state as part of a wealth creation scheme for entrepreneurs.
Aiyedatiwa disclosed that the beneficiaries would include young entrepreneurs partaking in the state’s enterprise development programs. Notably, the Governor announced the plan at the 2026 ONDEA Entrepreneurs Summit in Akure, Vanguard reported.
He explained that the scheme is part of the government’s effort to facilitate wealth creation and financial inclusion among Ondo youths. He stressed that the scheme will give beneficiaries ownership stake in the Dangote Group. He also noted that this will expose them to capital market investments.
Additionally, the Governor unveiled the Lucky Light Initiative to provide solar power to 1,000 small businesses across Ondo State. According to him, the solar initiative is not expected to be used for household consumption but for business purposes.
However, the Governor’s plan has received mixed reactions from Nigerians with netizens expressing differing views. Interestingly, the Governor’s plan comes amid the recent trend surrounding the Dangote shares following their IPO.
