An X user who was recently jailed for making false claims about Adekunle Gold’s Daughter has regained freedom after paying the court-imposed fine.
Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore revealed that the X user, Samuel Adeboye Adeyeye known as Swanky has regained his freedom. He revealed that Swanky’s release followed the payment of his court-imposed fine by a “Good Samaritan”.
“Following public interventions regarding the prison sentence imposed on him, a concerned benefactor stepped forward and paid the court-imposed fine in lieu of imprisonment,” Sowore stated.
Adeyeye, using his Swanky001 account on X shared false information about Adekunle Gold’s daughter on the platform. This led to his eventual arrest and conviction by a Federal High Court in Lagos for cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and spreading false and malicious information.
The court sentenced him to two years imprisonment with an option of fine after he pleaded guilty to the charges.
Notably, release papers shared by Sowore showed that a fine of N1 million was paid to secure his release.
Meanwhile, social media users have already begun speculating on the identity of the good Samaritan who paid the fine.
