Ogun Police apprehends two suspects in Ijebu Ode over Edo kidnapping, murder of hostages

Ogun state police command has confirmed the arrest of two suspects in Atiba Area, Ijebu Ode linked to the recent kidnapping and murder case of two hostages in Okada area of Edo State.

The development was disclosed in a statement by the Command, following an earlier announcement on June 4, 2026. In regards to the arrest of two male suspects by personnel of the Nigeria Forest Security Service and the commencement of investigations into their activities.

According to Ogun Police press release, the intelligence driven investigations conducted by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, prompted the identification of the suspects.

During the investigations, the suspects, Gafaru Adamu (25) and Muhammed Sanni (20), were connected with an ongoing investigation over an abduction and murder of two hostages in Okada, Edo State.

The Command explained that information gathered during the investigation linked the suspects to a seven-man kidnapping syndicate allegedly involved in the incident.

And also highlights items recovered during a search operation, which include, a pair of police camouflage uniforms and three mobile phones from the suspects. The Ogun Police command further disclosed that the recovered items have been documented and taken into custody as exhibits to support further investigations.

Ogun Police command redirects the case to Edo state

However, the command also noted that the alleged crimes under investigation were committed outside Ogun State. As a result, the suspects and all recovered exhibits will be transferred to the Edo State Police Command.

The command which has jurisdiction over the case, for further investigation and prosecution in line with established inter state policing procedures.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the professionalism and intelligence gathering efforts of the operatives. While urging members of the public to remain vigilant, provide timely and credible information to security agencies to aid the fight against crimes.
