Imo First Lady Encourages Husbands, Sons to Learn Cooking

The First Lady of Imo State, Chioma Uzodimma, has called on families to embrace teaching both boys and girls how to cook.

According to her, cooking is an essential life skill and not a responsibility reserved exclusively for women.

The first Lady made the remarks while speaking on gender roles in the home, she stressed that there is nothing wrong with a husband preparing meals for his family when necessary, adding that such acts should not be viewed as unusual.

She said:

“There is nothing wrong with a husband cooking for the family. Women should also teach both their sons and daughters how to cook. There is no rule that says only women should cook for the family,”

She further explained that equipping children with practical skills such as cooking helps them become independent, responsible adults capable of taking care of themselves regardless of gender.

Her remarks have since sparked mixed reactions on social media. While many users applauded her stance. Others debated traditional gender roles within marriage and family life.
