Nigerian Couple Go Viral After Swearing Death Vows Against Infidelity Before Canada Reunion

A Nigerian husband and wife have stirred widespread reactions on social media after publicly making separate vows, declaring that they would rather die than be unfaithful to each other.

The videos, which have since gone viral, were reportedly recorded as part of the couple’s efforts to rebuild trust ahead of the husband’s planned relocation to Canada to reunite with his family.

In one of the clips, the husband emotionally addressed his wife, whom he described as “my lovely wife” and “the mother of my children.” He acknowledged that she had spent three years alone in Canada raising their children while he remained in Nigeria.

Seeking forgiveness and reconciliation, he vowed that if he ever cheated on her after joining her in Canada, he should die “in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.” He repeated the declaration, insisting he would remain faithful and never divorce her.

According to him, the public declaration was made at his wife’s request as proof of his commitment before relocating abroad.

Wife’s pledge

In a separate video, the wife also made a similar pledge, promising to remain faithful to her husband throughout their marriage. She declared that if she ever betrayed him, God should take her life.

Beyond the vow of fidelity, she prayed for the grace to be a good wife and mother, asking God to make their marriage a model for other families.

The videos have generated mixed reactions online. While some social media users described the public declarations as touching demonstrations of love, commitment and accountability, others questioned the need for such extreme vows, arguing that faithfulness should come from genuine conviction rather than public pressure or fear.

Others maintained that every marriage is unique and that the couple’s decision should not be judged by outsiders, provided it strengthens their relationship.

The couple’s story has continued to trend across social media, sparking conversations about trust, marriage, long-distance relationships and the sacrifices many families make during relocation processes.
