Nigeria-British grime artist Skepta has called out President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the recent Oyo school kidnapping, calling out Nigerian celebrities for what he described as their silence on the country’s growing insecurity.
The rapper’s remarks come amid widespread outrage following the abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State, an incident that has heightened concerns about security across Nigeria.
Following Skepta’s comments, Nigerian singer Davido stirred reactions online after admitting that entertainers have not done enough to speak out about the situation.
He wrote:
“I can’t lie we entertainers .. we Dey fuckup I won’t lie including me … we need to speak up … it’s too much injustice goin on .. our country don go”
The growing outcry has since sparked intense debate on social media, with many users criticizing Nigerian celebrities for their perceived silence over the abduction.
One user wrote:
“Skepta is protesting and calling Tinubu by his name directly from London, but celebrities in Nigeria are weak and asking God to take control. Tiwa Savage even said she wasn’t aware.”
Another commented:
“Skepta is directly calling out Tinubu over the insecurity, while Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Asake, Rema, Tems and others stayed silent.”
The incident has continued to generate public discussion, with many Nigerians urging influential figures and public personalities to use their platforms to draw attention to the country’s security challenges.
