Popular Nigerian businessman, Morenikeji Abideen Giwa has sparked reactions online after publicly expressing his frustration, blaming church for his father’s death, alleging that shortage of doctors contributed to the tragedy.
Speaking during an interview, Giwa recounted that his father fell ill and was initially diagnosed with food poisoning while preparing to travel to the United States. However, upon arriving at a hospital for treatment, he alleged that there were no qualified doctors available to attend to him.
According to Giwa, hospital officials informed the family that the available doctors had gone to church, leaving the facility understaffed at a critical moment. He argued that the situation contributed to delays in receiving adequate medical care, which he believes played a role in his father’s death.
His remarks have since generated mixed reactions online, with users questioning the circumstances surrounding the incident and the decision to place blame on religion. While others expresed sympathy for his family’s loss
A user wrote:
“Oga if you don’t want to go to church anymore, say it with your full chest.
Don’t come up here with very silly and ridiculous reasons. Are you talking to fools?
How can all doctors in your village or where ever hole you lived in be in church at that particular time?”
Another user added:
“Every of his decisions have come from a side of pain and i don’t blame. GOD LOVES HIM AND WILL STILL PROVIDE FOR HIM.”
