The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the rescue of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Pau, younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu and her twin sons, Peter and Paul.
In an official statement issued by NPF yesterday, the hostages were rescued during a coordinated operation by the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) in Ibadan at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
Recall that Mrs Busayo Adeboke and her children were abducted while driving them to school at about 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026.
According to the press release, The rescue operation was successfully carried out through sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance, and coordinated tactical operations by security personnel.
Also, investigators were able to trace the movements of the kidnappers, leading to a confrontation between the suspects and operatives.
The security agencies explained that during the exchange, two suspected kidnappers sustained fatal injuries, while two rifles were recovered from the scene.
However, the kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed and have since been placed in safe custody, where they are receiving medical attention and necessary support.

The Inspector-General of Police commended the courage, professionalism, and effectiveness of the FID-IRT operatives. And other officers involved in the operation, noting that their resilience and dedication were crucial to the successful rescue of the hostages.
Police authorities said ongoing operations are focused on tracking down, arresting, and prosecuting all individuals connected to the crime.
NPF further explained that security operatives have intensified efforts to apprehend fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate. Preliminary intelligence suggests that some of the suspects escaped with gunshot wounds during the confrontation.
The Nigeria Police Force further expressed gratitude to members of the public for their cooperation, and patience throughout the operation. While reaffirming its commitment to curbing violent crime, protecting lives and property, and ensuring the safety of citizens across the country.
